The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia's (CAC) Boardwalk Art Show & Festival would not be possible without the crucial service of our approximately 250 volunteers. Beyond pure logistical support, CAC Volunteers bring a special atmosphere of community involvement, ownership, and fun to our events. Any and all help is greatly appreciated – whether helping visitors at an information booth during the art show weekend, selling posters or helping artists load in– there is invaluable work to be done by volunteers of all ages and skill levels. There are also plenty of opportunities to help out with planning, preparation, and general support in between events so we encourage you to sign up as a potential volunteer even if you cannot make it to the art show. Position Descriptions:
Pre-Festival Volunteer: Assist our CAC staff with light tasks such as answering phones, stuffing envelopes or rolling posters. Boardwalk Set-up/Breakdown: If you've got the muscles, we've got the jobs. This may include loading and unloading trucks, hanging banners, etc. We promise you will be extremely appreciated for your hard work. Drive-On Program: Assist artists with locating their booth and registering at Galilee Church on the Wednesday prior to the show. Drive-On allows artists to physically drive their vans on to the Baordwalk and unload. Deliver Brochures to Hotels: We have lots of coupons and show information that can be dropped off to local hotels in advance. Artist Greeter: Serve as a greeter during artist load-in at each block as artists park to unload. Make sure the alleyways are kept clear for emergency vehicles. Answer artist questions about Virginia Beach & where to park! 24th Street Registration: Check artists in and give them their registration packet and parking pass! Information Tent: Sell posters from our information tents and answer questions about the show and Virginia Beach. Locals welcome! 17th Street and 32nd Street Greeters: Hand out show programs to visitors during show hours at the entrances to the art show. This is a great opportunity for high schools students and their friends! Booth Sitters: Give the artists that are travelling alone a lunch break or bathroom break! You sit in their booth (but do not sell anything) for 20 minutes per booth. Shifts range from one hour to three hours. Artist Load Out: Sunday night we need LOTS of help with load-out! If you can direct traffic and drive a golf cart, this one's for you!
