On Thursday, August 19, 2010, 6:30-8pm, please join CAC for a presentation and book signing by Scott Ligon, artist and author of the nationally-acclaimed book Digital Art Revolution: Creating Fine Art with Photoshop.

Digital technology like Photoshop has created a revolution in the possibilities available to artists, allowing for endless experimentation, duplication, and the opportunity to create and distribute art to a much larger audience.  Digital Art Revolution: Creating Fine Art with Photoshop offers essential guidance to creating original digital artwork that takes Photoshop beyond the technical and into the creative realm, for artists at all skill levels.

In his presentation, digital artist, Cleveland Institute of Art faculty member and author Scott Ligon will discuss the new landscape that intersects digital technology and fine art. Ligon will also demonstrate some of the varied and amazing creative potential of digital art from a truly fine art perspective.

“Digital Art Revolution” goes beyond simply using Photoshop to alter photographs or imitate various historical painting styles; instead Ligon teaches readers how to use the software as an expressive tool to develop their own unique style. The progressive structure of the performance and book appeal to a broad audience – from the eager beginner just learning Photoshop, to the technically advanced digital artist looking to expand the possibilities of the medium. Welcome to the revolution!

Digital Art Revolution: Creating Fine Art with Photoshop is available in the Museum Shop for $29.99.
